It is no secret that photographing motherhood is one of the most rewarding and fulfilling things for me. I had been dreaming for months of capturing mothers and their little ones at the orchard when the trees were in bloom. This spring in Indianapolis was unique. Snow continued to fall into April and it seemed like winter was never going to end! Finally in May, the weather was a perfect mix of warmth in the sun and reprieve in the shade. Tiny buds on the trees had burst open; rows upon rows of gorgeous white flowers on every one. There I met with two mothers, capturing them as they snuggled and played amidst the long awaited spring around us.
I’ve spent quite a bit of my time in this particular orchard (you can see a late summer motherhood session featured on Modern Market here) but I had never had the opportunity to shoot during the spring. The trees only bloom for a very short while, and I was so thrilled to have had this opportunity! Spring is much like motherhood, new life blossoming into a new season. I cannot wait to offer more of these sessions in the future!
